The Tap to Pay app lets your nonprofit collect payments directly from mobile devices at in-person events. Learn how to invite users, manage devices, and keep transactions secure. First, make sure you meet the requirements to enable Tap to Pay!
How do I access Tap to Pay?
Once you've met the requirements, go to the Tap to Pay section under the Payment tab in your Springly account.
There you'll find the following sections: collected payments, your access, and sent invitations.
How to invite a contact to use Tap to Pay
You can invite any member, volunteer, or staff of your nonprofit to use Tap to Pay — whether they're an Administrator or simply a contact in your database.
The only requirement is that the person must be saved as a contact.
-
Go to the Invitations tab
-
Click New Invitation
-
Search for the contact you want to invite. Make sure they have a valid email address.
-
A Tap to Pay access invitation is sent to your contact with all the instructions needed to install the app and link the device to their contact record.
Note: Tap to Pay is only available on modern smartphones. Check the list of compatible devices.
Sent invitations expire after 3 hours if not used.
If needed, you can resend or cancel an invitation at any time.
How do I manage access?
Under the My Access tab, you'll find the list of contacts linked to a device.
This list shows the details of each device associated with a contact, including:
-
the contact's name
-
the device model
-
the access status (Active, Inactive, or Revoked)
From the device list, an Administrator can:
-
Revoke: the contact will no longer be able to collect payments on the linked device.
-
Restore: the contact will be able to collect payments again. A new invitation will be sent for them to reconnect to the app.
-
Remove access: access can be removed only if it's not linked to any pending transaction, to ensure a complete payment audit trail.
Why is the access showing as inactive?
This can happen for two reasons:
- The contact has been archived. The linked device is automatically blocked as a result.
To unblock the device, unarchive the contact.
- The contact has logged out of the Tap to Pay app. To reconnect, send them a new invitation.
How do I remove a contact's access to Tap to Pay?
It's straightforward: simply revoke their access.
The contact will no longer be able to use Tap to Pay on the linked device.
