Want to pay faster and more securely with your smartphone? Adding your card to Google Pay or Apple Pay lets you make contactless payments straight from your phone. Here's how.
Add a card to Google Pay
To add your card to Google Pay, follow these steps:
- Open the Google Wallet app on your smartphone.
- Tap the + Add to Wallet button.
- Select + New credit or debit card.
- Scan your card or manually enter the required information (card number, expiration date, and security code).
- Accept the terms and conditions.
- Follow the instructions to verify your card — a confirmation code may be sent by text or email.
- Once your card is verified, it's added and ready to use with Google Pay.
Once setup is complete, you'll receive a text confirming that your payment card is ready for Google Pay. You can now use your card anywhere you see a contactless symbol or the Google Pay logo.
Add a card to Apple Pay
To add your card to Apple Pay, follow these steps:
- Open the Wallet app on your iPhone.
- Tap the + button in the top-right corner of the screen. You may be prompted to sign in with your Apple ID.
- Select Payment Card, then tap Continue.
- Scan your card or manually enter its details (card number, expiration date, and security code).
- Accept the terms and conditions and complete the verification steps (via text, email, or phone call).
- Once verification is complete, your card is added and ready to use with Apple Pay.
Depending on your device, you may need to complete additional verification steps during setup.
Once setup is complete, you'll receive a text confirming that your payment card is ready for Apple Pay. You can now use your card anywhere you see a contactless symbol or the Apple Pay logo.
