As the person running your nonprofit, you need a clear picture of your donors and their history with your organization β and of the resources their generosity brings in.
This detailed data is typically needed for grant applications, annual reports, and more. The good news: Springly makes it easy to export all of it.

Where to export donor and donation information
The Exports module lets you bulk-export consolidated information about your donors and donations.
From this page, select "Donations & Donors".
You'll land on a dedicated page with several export options to choose from.
What information can you export?
This bulk export page lets you export consolidated lists of donors and donations made to your nonprofit through Springly.
Note: if you have chapters, exports from the main platform will not include their membership data. You'll need to export that data directly from each chapter.
About donors
On the export page, you can choose to export information about everyone who has made at least one donation to your nonprofit.
You'll receive an Excel file by email containing the following information:
- Unique contact ID from Contacts;
- Native contact fields: last name, first name, email address, home phone, mobile phone, mailing address;
- Total donations made during the current calendar year;
- Total donations made during the previous calendar year;
- Cumulative total of all donations made to the nonprofit and recorded in Springly;
- Names of the Donation Campaigns through which donations were made;
- Date of first donation;
- Date of most recent donation.
About lapsed donors
You can easily identify people who donated to your nonprofit some time ago β giving you insight into how well you're retaining donors over time.
You can export donors filtered by the year of their most recent donation.
You'll receive an Excel file by email containing the following information:
- Unique contact ID from Contacts;
- Native contact fields: last name, first name, email address, home phone, mobile phone, mailing address;
- Total donations made during the selected calendar year;
- Date of first donation;
- Date of most recent donation.
About donations over a given period
This export focuses on individual donations, not donors.
So, if someone made multiple donations to your nonprofit during the selected period, they will appear multiple times in the export you receive by email.
It will include the following information:
- Transaction ID, which appears in the registrant list of the Donation Campaign;
- Unique contact ID from Contacts;
- Native contact fields: last name, first name, email address, home phone, mobile phone, mailing address;
- Transaction date β i.e., the date of the donation or pledge;
- Donation amount;
- Payment status: paid (payment received), partially paid, or unpaid;
- Payment method used: credit card, installment payment, check, etc.;
- Organization where the donation was made: the name of the platform (main nonprofit or chapter) from which the export was generated;
- Name of the Donation Campaign through which the donation was made.
Donor and donation exports for chapters
If you manage a platform with chapters, this section is for you.
For example, imagine you manage a large national nonprofit (= the main nonprofit) with several local chapters (= chapters) spread across the country. Donations are managed at the chapter level.
- If you export the donor list from the main nonprofit, you'll only get donors from the main platform β not from any chapters;
- Likewise, if you export the donor list from a chapter, you'll only get donors from that specific chapter β not from other chapters or the main nonprofit.
Exporting donation information from Contacts
Filtering donors in Contacts
At the time of writing, it is not possible to export all the information stored in Custom Fields on donor profile records.
This may change in the future.
In the meantime, if you need this additional information, here's the recommended approach:
- go to Contacts > Contacts;
- filter (1) your contacts based on what you want to export, using either:
- the "Filter by" field to select your donors;
- or Advanced Search to filter under the "Donations" parameter by criteria such as: a chapter or the main nonprofit, cumulative donation amount, payment status (up to date or pending), number of donations made, date (before / after / specific date)β¦;
- check the box next to the "Name" field (2) to select all displayed contacts;
- click the export icon (3) and choose your preferred format.
The file will download automatically.
This approach lets you include donors from both your chapters and your main platform in one export (if you want), and pulls in all the information from their profile records β giving you a fully customized export based on the criteria you choose.
That said, some information won't be included β such as exact donation dates or amounts. You'll also see non-donation-related data in the export.
Combining donation exports with Contacts exports
One final option for bringing together all your donor information:
- export all your contacts from Contacts > Contacts (or by filtering as described above), making sure to include the contact identifier ("Contact ID");
- export the information you need from the Exports page described earlier;
- combine the data from both Excel files into a single table using the contact identifier. Use the "VLOOKUP" function to merge the data (instructions here).
