Mailing Lists and contact Groups let you target your audience more precisely β without having to reach out to each recipient one by one. This article walks you through how to:
Create a Mailing List
There are two types of Mailing Lists. Learn more: How Mailing Lists work
Lists linked to your Community
Community-linked lists correspond to the Groups created and viewable under Community > Groups.
To create a Community-linked Mailing List, go to Community > Groups and click New Group. Once the Group is created, it will appear under Emailing > Lists.
Check out this article to learn everything about managing Groups.
Lists not linked to your Community
Mailing Lists not linked to your Community are built by manually adding email addresses β for example, by importing a list from an Excel file. They can also include email addresses collected through the newsletter sign-up widget on your website (see this article).
Edit a Mailing List
Edit a list linked to your Community
As mentioned above, Community-linked lists correspond to your Groups. To edit these lists, you'll need to make changes at the Group level.
Static Group
For example, the "Salsa Classes" list is linked to the static Group "Salsa Classes" and currently includes 5 people with a valid email address.
To add a new contact, go to Community > Groups, hover over the Group, and click Manage.
Click the + Add button to add contacts.
To remove someone, select them and click Remove from Group.
Since the list is synced with the Group, it updates automatically whenever contacts are added or removed.
Dynamic Group
Members are added to a Dynamic Group based on a criterion you define. Springly automatically adds any member who meets that criterion and updates the Mailing List accordingly.
Lists not linked to your Community
Go to Emailing > Lists, then select the list you want to edit.
From your list's page, click the Add button to bulk-import email addresses by pasting them directly.
This lets you add email addresses to a non-Community list without importing them as contacts β so they won't affect your billing.
Only email addresses can be imported into a non-Community list. As a result, it is not possible to personalize emails with a first name, for example. See article.
You cannot delete a contact from a non-Community list. However, you can select the contact and unsubscribe them.
Delete a Mailing List
Go to Emailing > Lists. Click the Delete button and select the list you want to delete.
You can delete a non-Community Mailing List. These lists are located under Emailing > Lists > Lists not linked to your Community.
