When sending an email campaign, you can add merge tags to personalize your emails for each recipient.
Here's an example:
You're sending an email campaign to 3 people: Hervé Jean, Luc Martin, and Charlotte Satin.
With merge tags, you can personalize each email so that:
- Charlotte Satin receives an email starting with "Hello Charlotte"
- Hervé Jean receives an email starting with "Hello Hervé"
- Luc Martin receives an email starting with "Hello Luc"
To create merge tags, follow these steps:
- Start by creating an email campaign.
- Once you're on the email content editor, select a text block from the left-hand vertical menu and drag it into the email body.
- Once the block is placed on the grid, a toolbar appears. The tool you need here is "Auto Fields".
- Clicking "Auto Field" opens a pop-up.
It explains how automatic fields work. - Say you want to send all recipients the same message, personalized with each person's first name and mailing address.
Example — sending to Luc:
Hello Luc,
I have your mailing address on file as: 27 rue du Chemin Vert, 75011 Paris.
Is it still correct?
Thanks in advance. - In the text block, you would write it like this:
Note that if a recipient doesn't have a mailing address on file, the message will still be sent — the address field will simply appear blank:
Hello Vincent,
I have your mailing address on file as:
Is it still correct?
