You are configuring your domain registered with Gandi on your own. This article walks you through the process and covers the following topics:
- Add a CNAME record
- Add a TXT record
- Redirect from mynonprofit.org to www.mynonprofit.org
- Finalize the configuration on your end (required)
If you run into any issues, we can only configure the domain on your behalf if you subscribe to the paid option from within the platform. If you'd prefer not to, you can check that the setup has been completed in the platform interface and contact Gandi support.
Add a CNAME record
Log in to your Gandi account, go to the DOMAIN NAME tab, and select the domain you want to configure (click directly on the domain name).
Go to the DNS Records tab.
Find the CNAME record row associated with www. Click the pencil icon to edit that record.
In the window that opens, replace the hostname with: assoconnect-3-esdee4h2h5c6d9gj.z01.azurefd.net. as shown below:
Important: make sure to keep the "." at the end of the hostname, after "azurefd.net".
The target domain should always be "assoconnect-x-xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.z01.azurefd.net", regardless of your domain name. For example, if your organization is called "My Nonprofit", the target will be "assoconnect-3-esdee4h2h5c6d9gj.z01.azurefd.net." — not "my-nonprofit.assoconnect.com". We update the target domain every 100 registered domains, so this article will be updated regularly. However, if you've already configured your domain name, you won't need to make any changes.
Click Edit and you're done — you should now see this record displayed for your CNAME:
All that's left is to finalize the configuration process in Springly.
DNS propagation (the time it takes for changes to take effect) can take anywhere from 15 minutes to 48 hours.
Add a TXT record
- Name: _dnsauth.www
- TTL: leave the default value suggested by Gandi.
- Value: paste the text string provided by Springly here.
Redirect from mynonprofit.org to www.mynonprofit.org
This step is strongly recommended: without it, your website will be accessible at www.mynonprofit.org but not at mynonprofit.org, and visitors will see an error message if they don't type the exact URL.
Click the Create a web redirect button.
Then:
- leave the first field "Address" empty;
- for the "Redirect address" field, select https:// (not http://, which is selected by default);
- in the next field, enter www. followed by your domain name;
- under Redirect type, keep the Permanent option selected;
- finally, click Create to confirm the redirect.
You should end up with the following redirect: http://www.mynonprofit.org/ (Address) to → https://www.mynonprofit.org/ (shown in the info message above the Create button).
Finalize the configuration on your end (required)
Even if you configure your domain name yourself, you still need to complete this setup within the platform interface. This action sends a request to our team, who will take care of the remaining steps (including installing the SSL certificate).
Go to Website > Settings & Theme > Domain Name. Select the options I already own a domain name and I'm configuring my domain name myself.
Then simply complete the 3 required steps:
Once these steps are complete, our team will link your domain name to your website within 72 business hours.
