You are configuring your domain registered with IONOS on your own. This article walks you through the process and covers the following topics:
- Add a CNAME record
- Add or update a TXT record
- Redirect a domain
- Final checks
- Confirm your configuration in Springly (required)
If you run into issues, we can only configure the domain on your behalf if you purchase the paid option from within the platform. If you'd rather not, you can check that your configuration has been finalized in Springly and contact IONOS support.
Add a CNAME record
On the IONOS website, go to the Domains & SSL section:
- On the row of the domain you want to configure, click the gear icon in the "Actions" column, then click DNS.
- Click Add a record and select the type CNAME.
- In the "Points to" field, enter the value provided: assoconnect-x-xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.z01.azurefd.net (value provided by Springly's technical support team)
Make sure to include the period after "net".
- Click Save.
Add or update a TXT record
To add or update a TXT record for your domain at IONOS:
- On the IONOS website, go to the Domains & SSL section.
- On the row of the domain you want to configure, click the gear icon in the "Actions" column, then click DNS.
- Click Add a record and select the type TXT.
- Fill in the following fields:
- Host name: enter
@to target the root domain, or the relevant subdomain (e.g._dmarc,mail, etc.). - Value: paste the TXT value provided (for example by Springly or a third-party domain verification service).
- TTL: leave the default value or enter
3600.
- Host name: enter
- Click Save.
⚠️ If a TXT record already exists for the same host name, make sure it doesn't conflict with the new value. Some services (such as Google or Microsoft) may require multiple separate TXT records on the same host — IONOS supports this.
Redirect a domain
To redirect your domain to your Springly website:
- Click the Domain & SSL tile and select the domain you want;
- Click the gear icon
in the Actions column, then click Show details;
- On the Details page, click Change usage type under "Usage type":
- Select "Redirect domain";
- For the "Type" field, select the Any domain option;
- Enter your domain address in the form, for example https://mynonprofit.com;
- Uncheck the "Also set up for www subdomains" option;
- Choose an HTTP redirect type.
HTTP redirect: visitors to your domain will see the destination domain address displayed in their browser's address bar. This redirect type is recommended for better search engine results.
Finally, click Save.
Final checks
To confirm that your domain is correctly redirected, run through the following checks:
Verify the redirect
In the Details tab, the Usage type should show "Redirect".
DNS configuration
- The "A" and "AAAA" records on @ show "Redirect: [...]" in the Service column.
- The CNAME record shows the value assoconnect-3.azurefd.net.
The target domain should be "assoconnect-3-esdee4h2h5c6d9gj.z01.azurefd.net.". If your organization's name is "My Nonprofit", the target will be "assoconnect-2-czcyhchkh8agebdx.z01.azurefd.net." — not "my-nonprofit.assoconnect.com". We update the target domain every 100 registered domains, so this article will be updated regularly. You won't need to make any changes if you've already configured your domain name.
Confirm your configuration in Springly (required)
Your domain name is now configured. There's one last step: finalize the setup in the Springly platform. This sends a request to our team to complete the remaining steps, including installing your SSL certificate.
Go to Website > Settings & Theme > Domain Name. Select the options I already own a domain name and I'm setting up my domain name on my own.
Then simply complete the 3 steps prompted:
Once you've completed these steps, our team will link your domain name to your website within 72 business hours.
