Springly lets you collect card payments for your memberships, donations, events, and Product Sales.
To do this, you need to create your e-wallet. It's completely free.
You may not be familiar with the concept of an "e-wallet." Think of it as a digital wallet where card payments land first. From there, you can transfer the funds to your nonprofit's bank account.
Here's how it works:
Where to create your e-wallet
Go to Payments > Activation, then click Enable Online Payment.
Step 1: Official nonprofit information
Enter your nonprofit's official name — the one that appears in your bylaws — along with its address.
Click "Next".
Step 2: Legal Representative
You'll need to enter the information for your nonprofit's Legal Representative. This person must already be saved in your Community > Contacts.
Enter their date of birth and their role within the nonprofit, then click Next to continue.
Step 3: Finalization and payment fee option
In this final step, you'll choose how you want to handle online payment fees and accept the terms of service for this feature.
Online payment involves intermediaries (payment processors, banking networks, etc.), which means there's a cost involved.
Springly gives you the choice of how to handle this cost:
- A suggested tip at checkout (paid by the Buyer);
- Payment Fees absorbed by the nonprofit.
Suggested tip at checkout
With the tip option, online payment becomes 100% free for your nonprofit.
You won't pay any Payment Fees on card transactions.
At checkout, the Buyer is shown a suggested tip to help Springly cover these fees. They can adjust the amount if they wish.
Here's an example for a $100 membership:
See this article for more information on the tip system.
Payment Fees absorbed by the nonprofit
Springly's Payment Fees are 1.8% + $0.25. If you choose this option, these fees will be deducted from each online payment you receive.
Here's an example for a $100 membership:
Note: You can change this setting at any time under Settings > Online Payment.
Finally, click "Complete Setup". Your nonprofit's e-wallet is now created — congratulations!
You can now:
- Create campaigns (membership, donation, etc.) that accept online payments
- Send Payment Links to collect funds in minutes
To withdraw the funds you collect online, you'll need to complete your E-wallet Verification. It's a simple, guided process.
