You want to issue a refund to someone who used online payment through one of your Membership Campaigns, Donation Campaigns, Events, or Product Sales. This article walks you through the refund process depending on your situation:
- Your e-wallet balance is sufficient to issue the refund
- Your e-wallet balance is insufficient or zero
Your e-wallet balance is sufficient to issue the refund
If your e-wallet balance is sufficient, you can process an online refund once full payment for the transaction has been received.
You can do this directly from the transaction page, which is accessible from your form's list of Registrants.
The book entries are automatically updated in the platform after this action.
Your e-wallet balance is insufficient or zero
If your available e-wallet balance is less than the amount to be refunded, you cannot process an online refund.
For example, if you need to refund a Member $200 but your e-wallet only holds $150, you won't be able to process the refund online.
In this case, the only way to refund the Member is offline — by check or cash. You will then need to manually enter a refund book entry in your accounting. For step-by-step instructions, see our detailed article: Refunding a transaction or a sale.
Please note: it is not possible to add funds to your e-wallet directly (for example, by transferring money from your bank account to your e-wallet). The only way to fund your e-wallet is by receiving online payments through your forms.
