In your Community, you can manage Structures in the platform similarly to Contacts β that is, individual persons.
This feature lets you group individual persons who belong to the same legal entity: a company, a nonprofit, and so on.
The Structures module is only available on select Springly plans.
This article covers the following topics:
- Import Structures
- Add Custom Fields for Structures
- Edit a Structure's information
- Merge Structures
- Add a Structure to a Group
How the CRM works
Import Structures
You can bulk-import your Structures using an Excel file. The process is the same as importing individual persons β go to Community > Contacts, then open the Structures tab. Click "Add" > Import Structures.
Check out this article for more details on Import Best Practices.
Add Custom Fields for Structures
Administrators can create Custom Fields to store additional data about their Structures. These Custom Fields are dedicated exclusively to Structures.
To create these fields, go to Settings > Community > Customize Structure Information Fields.
You'll land on this page:
Any Custom Fields you add will appear on every Structure's contact form.
We recommend this article for a detailed walkthrough on adding Custom Fields.
Edit a Structure's information
A Structure's information can be edited:
- by Administrators through the back office / admin mode.
- by a user when signing up a Structure through a Membership Campaign.
Check out this tutorial for more information on how to edit or delete a Structure.
Merge Structures
You can merge Structures if you have duplicates in your CRM.
The merge rules are the same as for individual persons, with a few additional rules:
- You cannot merge a Person and a Structure together.
- When merging Structure A (primary contact) and Structure B (secondary contact), Persons linked to Structure B are reassigned to Structure A.
Example: "John Doe" belongs to "Facebook". If you merge "Google" (as the primary contact) and "Facebook" (as the secondary contact), John Doe will no longer be linked to Facebook β he'll be linked to Google instead. And Facebook will be removed.
- When merging Person A (primary contact) and Person B (secondary contact), Structures linked to Person B are moved over to Person A.
Check out this tutorial for more details on merging.
Add a Structure to a Group
A Structure can be added to any Group, regardless of its type (Fixed, Dynamic, or Advanced). To do so, go to Community > Contacts > Structures > Add to a Group.
- A Group can contain two separate lists: Structures and Persons. From the same interface, you can view and manage both Structures and Persons belonging to the same Group.
- Note: a Dynamic Group can contain either Structures OR Persons β not both at the same time.
