Got a promo code and want to apply it to your subscription? Here's how:
- Entering a promo code when subscribing for the first time
- Activating a code on an existing subscription
- How subscription updates work
Promo code activation is not retroactive. Payments already processed cannot be refunded.
Entering a promo code when subscribing for the first time
Subscribing to Springly? Thanks for choosing us!
If you have a promo code for a discount, follow these steps to apply it during checkout: Enter a promo code.
Activating a code on an existing subscription
If you have a valid promo code, you can activate it so it takes effect at your next billing date:
- On a monthly plan, the discount will apply starting at your next renewal โ i.e., the following month.
- On an annual plan, the discounted rate will also apply at renewal โ i.e., one year after your initial subscription date.
Important: the promo code you enter must still be valid on your subscription renewal date, otherwise it will not be applied.
Updating with a plan change
If you're switching your plan or billing period (e.g., from monthly to annual), the update is straightforward. See this section if you're applying the code while keeping the same plan and billing period.
Go to Settings > Subscription, then click Change subscription.
Select the number of contacts to include in your subscription and check "Save 20% with an annual commitment" to switch from monthly to annual billing (or uncheck to go back to monthly). Click Next to confirm your choice.
You can also switch to a different plan (for example, from Serenity to Professional) by clicking "Explore other plans".
Then, enter your promo code and confirm your subscription:
Updating without changing your plan
The process is the same as for a plan change, except you'll need to select the same billing period and plan as your original subscription.
Then enter your code and confirm the subscription update.
Once the subscription update is complete, an error message may appear. Your promo code will still be applied and will be visible on the Settings > Subscription page.
How subscription updates work
How the update works
Once the code is activated and the subscription updated:
- Your current subscription is closed: it ends immediately and generates a credit note for the unused portion of the period.
- A new subscription (monthly or annual) is created: it starts today and renews automatically at the next billing date.
A new invoice is generated: the amount equals the new subscription price, minus the credit note for the unused period and the promo code discount.
If the new subscription amount exceeds the total of the credit note and promo code, a new payment will be charged. The update creates a new subscription that must be paid within 3 days.
Practical example
You update an annual subscription priced at $348 after 8 months by adding a 10% promo code ($34.80). Here's what happens:
- A credit note of $116 is issued for the unused period (4 months out of 12).
- An invoice of $348 โ ($116 + $34.80) = $197.20 is generated.
- A new one-year subscription is created and charged at $197.20.
- After one year, the subscription renews and generates an invoice of $348 โ $34.80 = $313.20.
