Are pro-rated memberships possible?
The scenario: members are joining mid-season — can they pay a pro-rated amount based on when they join?
The answer: no, not automatically.
A possible workaround is to set up multiple membership tiers (e.g., monthly). For example, if your season runs from September 1 to June 30 — 10 months — at $100, you could set up 10 membership tiers:
- Full season: $100
- October 1 – June 30: $90
- November 1 – June 30: $80
- December 1 – June 30: $70, etc.
Keep in mind that a long list of pricing tiers can make your campaign harder to read.
Our tips:
- Communicate early — before your membership period opens — and emphasize the importance of signing up quickly. It'll save you a lot of cash flow headaches.
- If rolling membership waves are common in your nonprofit, you can also create multiple campaigns over time by duplicating existing ones.
How do I limit membership purchases to one per person?
You can limit the number of sign-ups allowed per person on a given campaign, setting a maximum number of registrations per individual.
If you set this limit to 1, a person will not be able to also register a child or a spouse on their behalf.
To do this, go to the form settings via Settings > Forms and ticketing.
Enable the option "Limit the number of sign-ups per person on a single campaign".
Then go to the configuration page of your Membership Campaign (via Forms > Memberships, then click "Edit" on the campaign of your choice), and navigate to step 4 - Payment and confirmation.
Click "More options".
In the panel that expands, enter the maximum number of memberships a user can complete per campaign.
Can I manage multiple Membership Campaigns at the same time?
Yes, you can absolutely create and manage multiple campaigns at the same time.
For example, you might have one campaign for new members at standard rates, and another exclusively for returning members with discounted rates.
In Community > Contacts, everyone who signed up through a Membership Campaign will display the yellow badge
to indicate they are a member, regardless of which campaign they used.
Another example: your current memberships end on August 31, and you want to launch a renewal campaign before that date that takes effect on September 1. You can create this second campaign and configure the membership options (in step 2) so that the membership period runs from a specific start date — September 1 — to a specific end date.
You can also run two Membership Campaigns with overlapping date ranges (for example: one covering January 1 through December 31, and another from September 1 through August 31 of the following year).
Someone signed up through the wrong Membership Campaign. Can I transfer their registration to another one?
No, it is not possible to "transfer" a membership from one campaign to another.
There is a workaround, however. If the membership has not been paid, you will need to delete the transaction from the first campaign and register the person on the correct one.
If payment has already been made and it was an offline payment, you can follow the same steps and record the received payment amount in the new campaign.
If the payment was made online, you can issue a refund by following the steps in this article: Refund a transaction or a sale
Finally, if the transaction is linked to a Tax Receipt, please refer to this article: Delete a transaction linked to a Tax Receipt

- Record transactions in the next accounting period
