You've added a video using a video block on your custom page, but the preview isn't showing up. This article explains why that happens and how to fix it.
Accepting cookies
Blocks on a custom page let you embed YouTube videos directly on your site. All you need to do is enter the end of the video URL in the video block, as explained in our dedicated article: Adding a video to a page
However, when visitors come to your site, the video may not appear and the following message is displayed instead:
This means the visitor has not (yet) accepted cookies on your site.
To change their choice and accept cookies, they just need to click the message "Please accept cookies to watch this video.".
The cookie consent pop-up will appear โ they can then click "OK for me".
This keeps your site compliant with data privacy regulations.
๐ชWhat is a cookie? Cookies are small files stored in your browser that allow websites to remember your preferences and settings โ including whether you've agreed to certain types of tracking or content.
Embedding an iframe block
If you're worried that visitors might miss the video, you can also embed it using an iframe block. This way, the video preview will be visible to everyone โ no cookie consent required.
Please note: when you embed a video using this method, cookies are managed by YouTube, which does not request consent from the user.
For more details on how to do this, check out our articles: Adding a video to a page and Adding an iframe block to a custom page.
