On your custom pages, you can direct readers to an internal page on your site or to an external website โ without displaying a raw URL. Links can be added directly to a word or an image, so that clicking on it automatically takes the visitor to the destination page. In this article, you'll learn how to:
Note: this feature is available for custom website pages. To learn how to create this type of page, check out this article first.
Add a link to a word
Whether you're editing a page, an event, or a blog article, here's what to do:
- If you haven't already, add a text block to the central editing grid. For more details on how this works, see this article;
- Then, double-click the text block to enter editing mode;
- Select the word or words you want to link, then click the Link button
.
A small window will open. From there, you can:
- Enter the URL of the destination page (paste it into the "URL" field);
- Review or edit the text you selected to attach the link to;
- Change the link type: for example, you can set the word to open a pre-addressed email or trigger a phone call instead of navigating to a page.
The "Target" and "Advanced" tabs give you additional link configuration options. Feel free to skip them if you just need a simple link.
Once you've filled in the details, click OK to confirm. The word will appear underlined and in blue, indicating it contains a clickable link.
Add a link to an image
On an image block
To add a link to an image block in the page editor:
- Place the image block on the grid, or click on the image if it's already there;
- Click "Link" in the left toolbar.
In the window that opens, fill in:
- Link to: choose whether the link should go to an external website or to a page within your site;
- URL / Page: enter the URL or select the page (based on your "Link to" selection);
- Target: choose whether clicking the link should replace the current page ("Current page") or open in a new tab or window. Note that if you select "Current page" and link to an external site, visitors will leave your site.
On an image inserted in a text block
To insert an image into a text block:
- Double-click the text block (already placed on the central editing grid);
- Click the "image" icon
in the text editing toolbar.
- In the window that opens, go to the "Upload" tab;
- Click "Choose a file", select the file from your computer, then click "Send to server";
- Then go to the "Link" tab and enter the URL of your choice;
- Finally, click OK to save.
Note: after uploading your image, you'll be automatically redirected to the "Image Info" tab. A URL will already be filled in โ this is the storage URL for your image and is populated automatically. Do not modify it: doing so will cause your image to disappear.
